Hi

Some motherboards with certain chipsets are

said to need BIOS updates for the Haswell

refresh. Is this usually a lengthy or tricky

process? Say for...

Hi there
Since you are buying that board new now, it will most likely already come with the BIOS required to support Haswell refresh CPU's.
If not, the process is very simple so long as you have another CPU to use on that board in the meantime.

That's what I want to hear.

Although that means the computer will be out of commission until the update is done then, as I

don't have any spare CPUs for 1150. Only last gen. How is it done? Just downloading a file from the manufacturer

website unto a USB and then loading up the BIOS and then loading the file from the USB?

Right I see.

Well I hope to high heaven that it works then!

This is the current state of affairs. It's for an office environment, so it has to be cheap as I'm not

just buying a single unit. So if I have 5 PCs on my hands that all have a BIOS issue, I'm going to wish

the 7 hells was a place I was at, as it's not going to be comfortable.

You've been great by the way. I really appreciate the input, perhaps more than you know.

You'll get the green lights this time. Now I just wish I knew it would work. I'm counting on it, as it's

a modern motherboard.

I would expect it to work out the box as Haswell refresh has been around for long enough for the manufacturers to update the BIOS on their entry level boards to support it.
Good luck.

Thank you very much.

I just needed a second opinion, as it's not nice to mess up to the tune of a couple thousand.

I picked that motherboard so that we could have some 2560 x 1440p fun too; even if only on HDMI.

Hi guys! I have a problem with Hp Presario CQ65-160SQ> northbridege ATI Radeon HD 4200 working fine after reflow. Then, after 1 weeks I got a black screen. Every 3 time of reflowing. Now I.m not shutting down my laptop about 3 weeks and it working fine. My question is> Why my laptop keep working? What if there is a problem with bios diagnostic? Can someone tell me if BIOS can be modified to jump over that GPU failure ?
