External Optical Drive

Will I be able to install an OS through an external optical drive?

And also, what type of OD (Optical Drive) will I need to install an OS and play games that are in the form of a disk?
(IF you can, try to link one to me that is cheap)
(I know the title is "External Optical Drive" but the OD doesn't have to be external, it can internal but please answer my questions and please try to find one that is cheap)

2. Any external DVD drive should work. They're pretty generic.

I know its an internal drive, I showed it to you because of the type of OD.
Wanted to know if that type of OD will work.

External ODD - as linked by me. Connects via USB. Powered from the wall
Internal ODD - as linked by you. Mounts internally, connects via SATA power and data cables.

I meant "Type of OD" by the type.
For example, a DVD Burner, a DVD Write or a CD Writer/Reader like that.

This is an internal drive, not an external. Although you might be able to make it work, it is not worth the efforts.
