I am looking to upgrade my current gaming pc which is a little bit outdated.

set up now.

890FXA-GD65

4gb AMD ram

1TB hdd 5200 rpm

Nvidia 560 ti 1gb

AMD athlon II X4 645 processor @ 3.10ghz

500 watt psu

Cooler master HAF full atx tower

Basic cooling fans and heatsink

I would like to upgrade to something better with maybe an i7 or octo core amd

The above will be given to my kids for them to play with

have a budget of about $700-800

Would like to be able to play games like Farcry 4 and so on with decent settings and would like not to have to worry about an upgrade in 6 months either if it is at all possible.

Solution
dropping windows allows for a massive gpu upgrade with the same system

I was just about to suggest a build with the same CPU and GPU... Thanks for ruining my dreams xD

If you're giving it to the kids then there's nothing you can use. So its the same as asking for a $800 PC build.

Try -

considering the 960 performs the same as the r9-280 and also considering the budget, i'd save that $25 and get the 280 over the 960.

i know they are new and all and folks want to use em but for the money the 280 is a better buy. especially when the budget is tight like it is here.

AMD build with OC Potential. I'm running a 8320 + 290 myself. Ofcourse you can go with an 8350 and cut some corners somewhere like going with a lower psu or a 6300.
