GPU+PSU upgrade question

hello I was wondering if I can get some advice on upgrading my current GPU and PSU.

my current GPU is a XFX 5670 that has been working non-stop since I bought it around July of 2011. lately when playing any game the temperature will rise up to 104 Celsius highest I have seen has been 107 Celsius and idle is around 70 Celsius.

I plan on purchasing a used Asus R9 270 and a Evga 500W PSU for $150

my questions are is the R9 270 compatible with my motherboard?? I've looked around have seen some comments saying these newer GPUs from AMD and Nvidia won't post on older motherboards??? or is this a problem to do with Windows 8 and UEFI??? I don't have a UEFI bios.

PC is a HP and this is the motherboard

also do you think the GPU will fit on this motherboard and a regular size HP computer case??? worried the GPU will touch the South Bridge heat sink and capacitors.

second question is regarding is the PSU. Will the EVGA fit my case??? the current PSU is a Lite-On 300W model no. PS-5301-08-HA. I can see like a latch you need to push down to get the PSU out when you unscrew it...So I'm afraid the EVGA is too long??

or should I just buy a Nvidia 750 TI and keep using the Lite-On?

specs of my PC are

Windows 7
4gb of ram (originally 6 but a stick died)
AMD II X4 630

For a system using a single Radeon R9 270 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 28 Amps or greater and have at least one 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

the model number is Pavilion 6347

about the PSU I need one with long cords that aren't stiff like the ones on the current Lite-On, it's a tight fit with the cables with the XFX 5670 and the Asus is 3i nches longer, and it's only $40 as well.

Oh if your case is Mid-ATX the EVGA power supply would be awesome and if you are having a tight fit in your case then I recommend going with a fully modular PSU so there will be less cables that aren't being used

yeah I thinking of going for a semi-modular, but the EVGA coords look like they are long enough and braided so they should be easy to get the right fit with the R9 270. so thanks

do you think I'll see a major boost in FPS in my games like FC3,Crysis 3, and Tomb Raider over the 5670??? not a big gamer, but I just needed to get right of this card afraid it's going to die on me any second with those insane temps.

YES, the R9 is way better than the 5670

alrighty then. i'll purchase the Asus R9 270 and EVGA 500W. hope it works and no issues.
think I'll buy some thermal paste and see if I can get them temps back to normal on the XFX 5670 as a backup card.
