upgraded my sappire 5670 to a sapphire 7770 ghz edition but got no improvement in fsp

Hi all i am quite new to the pc stuff. I moved over from a ps3. I recently changed my older sapphire 5670 gpu to a later sapphire 7770 ghz edition which i was hoping it would increase my fps on dayz but got no improvement in fact it was less by around 2 - 5 fps. I have an intel q9300 2.5ghz. Its not the best rig at the moment i didnt want to spend lots of money untill i was clued up. Any help will be greatly appreciated in getting more fps.

this ^ Ivy 3570K stock clock 40/20fps with my 7950 running 1300/1900 only got 3 frames from oc so i figured it was the CPU

went to BIOS switched to my 5GHZ OC profile 60Smooth FPS oh btw there is something on reddit about editing the INI file to get a HUGE FPS boost OR make the game better without it screwing up the living hell out of your PC

Thanks for all ur input guys appreciate it. can i fit any intel 4 core cpu in with the same heat sink thats in already or do i need to get a heatsink to suit. or what about overclocking will i need to add fans to the rig??
