hello, my friend's cpu is i7 2600k, cooler noctua nh-d14, i replaced his existing cooler's thermal paste with arctic silver 5, after that cpu's temperature's range is 35-50C, is it normal ? for this cooler and cpu?

Solution
My i7 2600k is 35c-40c idle and around 50c under load at 3.4GHz.Those temps are almost the exact same when I overclock it to 4.2GHz with a slight voltage increase to 1.230Vcore.
I'm using this thermal paste on my setup http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3829122&CatId=503 I found this post while looking for info on artic silver. (I'm looking to get some myself)
I have a Corsair H60 Hydro Series cooler.
I would be comfortable with those temps.

Have you stress tested or checked the temps while doing whatever it is your friend does ? E.G. playing games or something ?
Maybe your aware of this, but the temps when stress testing will usually go a lot higher than they would when doing just about...

Maybe your aware of this, but the temps when stress testing will usually go a lot higher than they would when doing just about anything else. So don't worry, just try to keep them under 70c and you'll be good.
You could go higher than that, but I don't want my cpu any hotter than 70c.

Solution
depends on ambient temps. at 4.4ghz@1.30v my lapped 2500k+hyper 212 runs 3 cores at 25-28c and 1 core at 32-35c at idle, ambient temps about 68f in the house. though lapping took a good 7-10c off my peak temps, idle i believe only dropped a few c.

if you just applied the ac5, the unit needs to go through a some heat up and cool down cycles as cpu heat spreader and contact pipes of the cooler stretch and shrink at different rates from each other. as that happens the paste will travel and eventually fill in the microscopic gaps thus temps will likely lower a few c.
