I'm building a PC for the first time and I have a link to the parts that I chose for my build. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Pkmblack303/saved/CmXFf7
I'm trying to stay under $500 ($400 for parts, $100 for OS), and the PC is mostly headed to gaming but as well as typing papers, doing homework, and all of that stuff. I would like to be able to play Minecraft (w/ shaders) at 40 FPS, Portal 1 and 2 with good graphics, and just be able to play indie/ old games with great to max graphics. (Basically, I'm not playing high demanding games such as Battlefield 4, Metro: Last Light, or Bioshock.) If you have a build that is better than mine, please leave a link to it and thanks for all the help. Thanks.
P.S: I'm trying to stay to a color theme, but anything that is blue, lime/green, or red is fine!

You might want to consider tom's budget build:

The G3258 used is probably stronger than the FX-4300 in your games.
I just read some of the newegg comments.
One uses a G3258 in his minecraft server and it loafs. Another replaced a FX-8350 and is pleased.

What I really like about a G3258 starter is that you can upgrade to a i3, i5, or i7 on the same motherboard.
