Would a 400w PSU be enough to power a GTX 750 ti and a FX-8350.

Please list all of your components. PSU calculators usually over estimate the actual need.

However, a 400 watt PSU would support a 750 ti and a 8350 no problems. Don't look to upgrade beyond a 750 ti. The actually quality of the PSU could be the problem.

More info is needed.

With two 16A +12V rails it isn't the best PSU that you could use with an FX-8350. FSP build decent PSUs; yours is based on the FSP ATX-350N which is a 350W PSU having 70% efficiency. Worst that could happen is an unstable system or unexpected shutdowns when the system is running at full load. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cases/display/psu-400w-520w.html#sect2

Fsp can make good units but they make some that aren't very good(they build what they get paid to build). The cm elites have been a tier 5 unit on this site and new eggs eggxpert site. There are 2 400w elite psus 1 made by fsp and the other is made by solytech. Cooler master only ever sent the fsp unit out for reviews and it didn't do bad but it was most likely a golden sample. The solytech built unit is what you will usually find in the wild and it's a much poorer unit and was never sent out for professional reviews. I won't use or recommend them as I have seen to many failures from the series to recommend their use.

It's easy for the OP to see which one he has and then decide if he should get a new PSU (he probably should if he has the budget for a new quality PSU). To be honest most systems have a Tier 3 or lower PSU and they still work; I've rarely seen a pre-built system with a FSP PSU that went bad. I can comment about Solytech PSUs as I've never seen one.

I read your second post too, and was wondering if the i5-3570k be good enough to run on my PSU since it consumes a lot less power than the FX-8350. Also, if I ever wanted to overclock this CPU, would I be pushing the PSU to the limit or over?

Do you know what would be a good, cheap PSU to get to support the parts I'm looking for?

Thats not entirely true. Seasonic makes a good 400w unit

for the price. at that seasonics price i would rather have the xfx 550.
