Hey folks. I'm working on a friend's computer, trying to resolve a ton of issues. At the end, I simply decided a fresh install would be the most prudent solution to save time and energy.
Because the universe hates me, upon installing a fresh copy of XP Pro SP3, the network drivers failed to install, and device manager showed the card in Other Devices with two listings.. I successfully installed the Marvell driver and one of the Ethernet listings went away, and a Network Adapters listing was created. One "Ethernet Controller" listing still exists under "Other Devices" however, and I still have no network, although now Windows shows that it wants to connect.
I'm attempting to use a D-Link wireless stick, which I successfully installed the drivers for, but still no joy. I'm a little stumped why the device isn't detected and why the second Ethernet listing is still showing under the Other Devices header.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm about to throw on a copy of Ubuntu to call it a day. Thanks.
