Hi my current set up is:
AsRock N68-VS3
AMD athlon x2 250
Windows 7 64 bit

I ordered the following:
New INTEL mobo: MSI H81M-E34
i5 4460 processor

I have the following Qs: when i replace my mobo and processor will i have to:
a) reinstall windows?
b) if i reinstall windows, will i still have all my data on my hard drive? (Assignments, all of the games, google chrome passwords etc etc)
c) do i have to do anything before i replace mobo and processor?
Can somebody please walk me through the process

Thanks.

The thread I linked makes it sound as though you will require a reinstall.

ok so if i reinstall windows, will i still have all my files and programs that i have downloaded, like a lot of games, my assignments, google chrome? or will it delete everything on my hard drive?

Admirable
It will delete everything, even if you do a reinstall and ask it not to, it will delete all your programs and just save photos and documents etc. and it's not 100% reliable at that.

Back up your files and make sure you will be able to reinstall all your programs, maybe make a list of them. I use Ninite to reinstall some of my most commonly used programs.

You can back up all your downloads from Steam toohttps://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8794-yphv-2033

Make a backup or two of all your data, (documents, photos, assignments, etc) then do the install, if Win7 (in particular, it will more than likely take a look at the new hardware, install appropriate default drivers and then you ready to go. Install all the latest mobo drivers from the web site (the disk that comes with the mobo is likely out of date), run a good registry cleaner (Wise has a good free version) and you should be ready to go, will prob have to re-activate Win which is no big deal
