I am looking at getting a EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0. I currently have a GTX 670 (2g). I have a i5-3570k CPU @ 3.4ghz. My MOBO is the Z77 Extreme 4 and 8 gigs of DDR3 RAM. My PSU is the Corsaid HX750.

I guess I'm just checking if there would be any type of bottlenecking or if I wouldn't get the full power out of the 970. Basically, do I have to do any other type of upgrading?

Thank you in advance!

Solution
You need to understand that bottlenecks also depend on the type of application, even different games or 3D modeling software can make the difference between having a bottleneck or not.

In theory, your CPU should be sufficient.

Don't forget about hard disk optimization. If you have slow Disks, all the GPU and CPU power in the world won't get you max performance.

You won't experience any bottlenecks at all, you're at a good position for upgrading. There have been rumors going around saying the VRAM isn't actually 4GB instead 3.5GB and there's bugs with the 970 that Nvidia are keeping quiet about, not fully sure.

I have a 970 with AMD fx-8350, Far Cry 4 getting drops down to 42-50 now and again when playing on ultra, probably just my CPU.

Wouldn't suggest going with AMD GPUs unless you only play games like Dota, LoL, CS etc... games tend to not be optimized for them except Battlefield and Batman.

970 is a good option but you might experience slight hiccups when playing at ultra settings on the latest games @ 1080p. I would suggest getting either the MSI, ASUS STRIX or Gigabyte cards but you shouldn't see any major differences.

[SUCCESS] Hhhhhm, maybe you should reconsider what you just said or things will get rather nasty in here.

Oh there will, only in time. Things recently started to stir up by gaming news writers on Twitter about an upcoming announcement in early 2015, but who knows? There will be Fallout 4 though, don't worry :p
