The Samsung 840 Evo SSD is eating space like it is going out of style.

I have the 250 gb for my os & in under a month it was down to 91gb. free space. I just removed 4 gigabytes of junk & restarted the pc. 87.4 gb free. Seriously? Wtf is the hard drive doing?

I googled and made sure I turned off the hibernation mode. But the hard drive space is slowing filling up every day, What can I do to get space back? Uninstalling programs should return space, not take away more.

Solution
Do you have System Restore enabled on your SSD?
Go to advanced settings(protection tab) delete all but the most recent system restore point.
You might also want to change pagefile size(smaller) if you have 8GB or more system ram.

Whos the man? This fugly guy is! lol

First time using a SSD, I never enable restore points, as I usually reformat every 6 month anyway, but sure enough, it was enabled.

82 gb went up to 140gb free once disabled. many thanks. I was starting to toss beer cans at my tv in frustration!

You should make sure that hidden files are visible. Then you can see what is actually taking up all that space. In my case, it was a program called erase which created hundreds of large files which it should have deleted at the end of the process, but did not.
