Hello, Recently I've been having a problem on my laptop (Toshiba C50-A-1JM, PSCJEE) When I went into the BIOS menu and under Advanced, System configuration there Is no UEFI option or boot options. I am trying to downgrade to windows 7 and I see that I cannot unless I change UEFI to CSM Boot, How can I change it to CSM boot then?

Please Will Someone help me with my query :)

hi

The only critical bios/uefi option is disable secure boot
Enabled requires Win 8 or a few modern Linux distributions

Googling shows there other reports of lack of drivers from Toshiba for Win 7 and failure of Win 7 DVD or USB to start up

So it may be very difficult to do unless Toshiba has produced a Win 7 version of the laptop with a special Win 7 for it

OK- first a caveat!

This works for a Toshiba Qosmio X70a (my machine), but it may get you there:

In order to boot using UEFI from the Windows 7 installation media, follow this procedure:

-Shut down Windows 8 while pressing the Shift key to completely power off.
-Power on and press F2 while the Toshiba logo is displayed to enter the UEFI Setup Menu.
-Go to the Security tab and set the "Secure Boot" setting to "Disabled".
-Go to the Advanced tab, enter "System Configuration" and set the Boot Mode to "CSM Boot."
-Press F10 to save and exit.
In order to successfully install Windows 7, you need to remove the existing GPT partitions during Setup and create new ones. which will be MBR-based.

Now, for Win7 drivers, look here:
http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK&selCategory=2&selFamily=381&selSeries=231&selProduct=7942&selShortMod=4002&language=13&selOS=30&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=allMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=8&page=1

You will have to enter your model information in the dropdowns . . .

ALSO, I BELIEVE you must be installing a 64 bit version of Win 7 . . .

HTH,
