evga gtx 670 sli PCIE question

So I have an AX850 PSU which only has an 8 pin slot and a 6 pin slot open. I just bought another 670 to run sli but dont have room for the 12 pin connector to the PSU that splits to the two 6+2 pins that plug into the GPU. Im not positive exactly how power cables work but could I get two 6 pin pcie cablewith 6 pins on each end and plug one into the open 6 pin slot on the psu and one into the open 4 pin slot?

I wanted to do that but didnt see how..

But; I actually solved my issue. i had forgotten that a couple years ago when i built my pc, i couldnt find the 8 pin to 4 pin connector for my mobo and just used the 12 pin to 4 pin that i did have. so i switched it and now have the room.
