No monitor signal after Windows 7 clean install

Okay so I've been running a 32-bit system for a while now. I've been putting off installing a 64-bit for no other reason other than I'm lazy. A couple days a go I decided I'd give it a shot and upgrade it because I have 8 GB of ram going to waste on a 32 bit system.

I ran ito a few problems installing but I managed to get through it so I do have a clean installed version of Windows 7 home premium 64-bit on my PC.

Here's the specs:
Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit
AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor ( 4CPUs ) ~3.0GHz
8192MB RAM

(In Direct X diagnostic tools on the display tab it shows no device where my video card would be. I'm not sure if this is because the drivers aren't installed for it or what. I'm assuming that's where the problem is)

So my problem is when I turn the computer on, the monitor works for a random amount of time. Sometimes it goes off straight away. Sometimes it goes off after several minutes. I think the longest I've had it on was for about 10-15 minutes.

During the time the monitor is on I'm trying to install my GPU drivers from AMD. I've al most finished them before but then everything went off.

I should add when the monitor goes off, so does my keyboard and mouse LED's then if I wait long enough I hear the startup of windows and the keyboard and mouse come back on but still no display. So I'm pretty sure the system restarts for whatever reason and then once it does the monitor fails to work. I haven't found anyone with this same problem and I've no idea what to do.
I thought installing my GPU drivers would help but I can't seem to keep the computer on long enough for them to install. I'm stumped.

Suggestions?

Is your Windows original? Maybe if you used a loader to validate it, that could be causing the problem; I once tried to install a copy of Windows and the loader seemed to wreck it, playing with some options on it fixed the issue (was getting BSOD every time after I installed the drivers)
