So I just finished building my pc. It cost around $1200 and I want to make a profit off of it so I can repeat the process. It is brand new, and works excellently. How much should I sell it for?

List all parts please. In fact you can just look online at the cost of each part and then work out the actual current value, then add a charge for putting it all together. Then find someone to buy it. Only except cash and nothing else come hell or high water. Chances are though that some local (or even national) PC parts company will have the same or better spec'd PC for cheaper plus a 12 month warranty. How?.. Because they bulk buy the parts they need and get them at a discount. You may have to sell cheaper then the value of the parts and your time will be worth nothing.

If you like tinkering and building things I suggest you by a good RC 1/8th scale 'Truggy' style 4x4. Something like a Thunder Tiger MT4-G3. They are so fast you will constantly be fixing and replacing parts, as well as checking out new bits you can get to make it steer better or go faster. Plus an all new kit will only set you back £400 max and thats with batteries and charger etc.

Honestly building PC's and selling them is going to be pretty hard, you're in competition with companies that have been around for years who offer full time support, warranties and can afford replacements if they accidentally break something. If you bust up a computer that cost you over $1000 then that's coming straight out of your pocket and probably taking the profits of 3 or 4 systems that you've sold. They also get discount on parts which you wont be able to get.

I don't mean to quell your dreams but this is a far fetched idea unless you can get some serious financial backing, if you enjoy this sort of thing maybe look for a job with one of the well known companies or even a local computer shop?

Hell, you could even try building for few of your friends. I've built a few systems for some friends and made a quick buck and there is no worry about any of what I just said above, the only problem is that they will contact you first when they mess something up!
