Unique RAM Problem

Hi guys,

Over the past few years I've slowly upgraded an old HP computer from stock to a completely separate computer. Last week I got the final piece, new RAM and decided to take all the parts from the old computer and put them back together to reform the stock computer. I had reset the HDD to factory settings as all the components were the default from factory. I had one bad restart where I was not thinking (yes I know I'm stupid for doing this, I'm a rather impatient person and after a long day of three hard exams, week of playing with the OS and restarting 5 bazillion times I was rather tired of waiting especially as it was on windows update 3 out of 186) and pulled an unused Sata 3.0 connector out of the motherboad as it was shutting down. I made sure to not to touch any metal or the motherboard itself and ground myself out, but it froze anyway and I manually reset it.

After the reset the machine didn't show any problems other than it was running slow. When I checked the computer properties it showed 6 gbs installed, but 1.49 gbs usable (the two stock HP sticks are split between a 2gb stick and a 4gb stick). The bios also saw all 6gbs installed.

Components (all stock):
Mobo: aahd2-hy
Ram: Elpida 1333 mhz

What I've tried so far:
-Unchecking/checking maximum memory in msconfig
-Windows memory diagnostic
-Switching sticks around in motherboard (There are two slots, when reversed the computer front leds (normally white) turn yellow and the onboard speaker beeps very loudly 5 times, pauses, and repeats.)
-Updating bios, unfortunately HP being the garbage company that it is, hasn't released a bios update since they released the computer
-Changing page file size in advanced tab under computer properties
-Factory reset again
-Installed Windows 7 Ultimate
None of these worked, the computer properties still read 6gb installed, 1.49gb available

Moving RAM around:
-Booting on just the 2gb stick in its respective slot worked, it saw the 2gbs and used 1.5
-Booting on just the 4gb stick in its respective slot did not work, you can hear the harddrive running, but nothing came up on screen, no bios, no display, nothing
-Booting on no sticks had the same result as just the 4gb stick
-I re-installed the old HP RAM into my custom rig, it saw, ran and used all the RAM available in the sticks
-Booting the old HP with my new ripjaws, using one stick in either port used all the ram, as well as booting in both slots, used all 8gbs (2*4gb)
-Booting on one ripjaws stick (in the 2gb stick's slot) and the 4gb HP stick, saw all 8gbs, but only used 4gbs

I can usually find answers without too much trouble, but this is a huge headache for me. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.
No help there, after CMOS reset, still same results on individual sticks/both sticks. Main build is still reading the 4gb stick, so I don't think it's faulty

I have been beating my head with this, but I have figured out the problem for the identical issues. After taking out the ram, take out CMOS batt, unplug power source, hold power button for 10 secs. Then load everything back in. I'm know this thread is old, But hope it helps.
