That's a cool looking case but in that price point you could also check out the Fractal Design R4, NZXT 440, and Enthoo Pro. Those are three great cases to consider too. If you are going to pick another board aside from Asus you picked a good one. Equally reviewed and made with similar components. That GPU is awesome! I think you have a good build picked out sir!

Yes, same for the case. You should go for a well trusted brand instead. The NZXT 440 is my personal favorite but the Fractal R4 is really good aswell.

Some of the stuff you've chosen is overkill but I guess if you can afford it that shouldn't be an issue.

Looks great, man. I feel you on the switching from Asus aspect. I just bought my first Gigabyte for my recent build (down in the right corner), and I was nervous coming from Asus too. Don't worry about it. Gigabyte makes a good board. Not a fan of their BIOS, but you get used to it.

I kind of like the NZXT 440, in the green and black, currently using a HAF 932,great case but sick of the red and black, was looking for a nice green/black combo, Thanks for the response !

I think that the i7 isn't really overkill for this reason: As Skylake and following generations come out with 14nm architecture and stronger quad cores and cheaper hyperthreaded chips, the Haswell i5 will become less prevalent than it's hyper-threaded brother the i7. Is it overkill right now? Absolutely, but I think it will hold it's value much longer than the i5 in the long run. Same reason why people on the sandy bridge haven't felt a need to move up yet. Just my thought though as it is overkill for the time being.

I can buy elsewhere sure, just always done buisness through newegg out of habit i guess, primary use will be gaming, and wanted to leave myself enough PSU and Motherboard space to get a second 980 if i felt the need to, my current rig suffers from some pretty severe frame drops at times in bf 4, and for whatever reason my eyes are very sensitive to frame drops like that, leading to some eye strain.

Looking to more or less future proof it for at least a good few years, my current first gen i7 rig lasted me a good 6 years or so with a few upgrades here and there, would like to get the same out of this system, i dropped 1k on the i7 965 when when it came out, and its served me well, but i feel like its starting to chug a bit.

I feel like 4k res is a bit out of reach atm, but would like for it to be an option in the near future, but for the most part, 1080p gaming/multitasking at 60 frames solid minumum.

Overclocking and SLI are a definate possibility. I wanted to have the for lack of a better term infrastrcture to move up to 4k res monitor and sli if/when it became relevent.
