I have a HCG-850 M Antec PSU and was wondering what kind of draw I can put one of the 12v molex connectors. I wanted to power a SMD led setup for my case (6 amps max or 72 watts probably much less) and wasn't sure what kind of current was available on the modular cables. As a side question should I run a new molex cable or can I use one that is already being used for either hdd or optical drives?

Solution
The maximum allowed +12V current is 11 Amps through the 4 pin Molex connector.

The modular cabling uses 18 gauge wires with a maximum current capacity of 16 Amps per wire (i.e. keep the total max current draw below 16 Amps for the whole modular cable).
