I7 3770k Bottleneck?

Ok im thinking about upgrading..As of now i have a slightly aging processor i7 3770k oced 4.2 and im thinking about buying GTX 970 SLI but im worried the processor will bottleneck the cards need a opinon?!?!

Nope. The 3770k is still a beast of a processor. It'll handle any SLI setup without even trying.

that cpu shouldnt bottleneck that graphics card not one bit. it is a 4 core with hyper-threading making it an 8 core if programs need the full 8 cores and it is overclocked to 4.2Ghz that is more than enough for the gtx 970 SLI just make sure you have a good PSU or you could fry your system if its not powered properly after it is SLI'd

Since the GTX 970 memory performance issue I wouldn't recommend it anymore, especially if you are planning to get it to play at higher resolutions. You might be better off getting a GTX 980:

Absolutely not. I would even get 2 gtx 980s on that cpu.

or 3. Graphics power ain't never enough. Keep in mind at higher resolutions cpu loses importance.

Unless if the rest of your system is taking 450 watts (not a chance), 850 watts is plenty.

Don't worry about the VRAM situation. I've enjoyed 5760x1200 on Ultra details on BF4 and Shadow of Mordor with no problem.
