Hello all

My main media/gaming PC has had EMI problems for a while now. This is where anything that is wireless and connected to the computer will either not work or not work properly. This could include Wireless mice ( I tested it by attaching the usb wireless dongle to the PC and then to a usb extension cord, which performed much better ) and Wireless NIC's ( I have tested in another PC and it works much better ).

I find evidence of this in the speakers that are connected to the PC. They seem to create various noises and tones depending on what the computers doing. Whenever I move the mouse, it makes a noise or tone and the same happens when the PC has a high CPU Load ( E.g. When playing a game ).

How would I remove this 'Interference' from my PC?

Many Thanks,

First thought is ground loops. Do you have metal standoffs, are you missing any motherboard standoffs? Do you have a grounded power supply? Did you do any painting to your case? Anything that could prevent a good CONTIGUOUS ground? Did you install the I/O shield?

Actually, The motherboard may be missing a couple of standoffs. I imagine that some parts of the motherboard are not grounded to the case properly and therefore create more EMR through unneeded currents.

Ill add more standoffs when I get the chance.
