Which monitor for r9 290x?

I recently built my rig which has a r9 290x lightning graphics card. Should I go for a 1440p monitor or stick to 1080p? Any recommendations? I currently am playing on a £100 TV so I should probably upgrade.

most games it will do fine.

my 2 7970s are a little faster than a 290x, in bf4 mostly ultra 110% res i get around 100+

some games like say metro you will get about 60 fps in most cases with things turned down

1440P all the way to go for a 290X. Also Free sync based displays soon will appear in the market. I think if you can you may wait a little bit more for free sync display to arrive. That would be even more awesome
