security certificate error

To start, I'm running Win7 Pro SP1 32-bit. Two months ago my system started advancing the system date by days, then months, and finally years. I replaced the mobo battery and updated the mobo BIOS to current. However, at one point without checking/correcting the system date, I used a browser. [I use Firefox, Chrome and IE and all get cert errors now.] The date had advanced to 2024. I suspect that all prior certs were deleted, replaced with far future ones. I tried to pull the certs from another Win7 system, which worked for about 10 minutes.

Any remedies to suggest?

tigsounds: Thanks for taking some time to make a suggestion. Since security certificates are used throughout Internet browsing, focusing on just one particular Windows version would possibly limit any interaction producing a useful suggestion.

Touche, Ok, first of all, the system clock must be somewhat factual. OP has clock issues which makes security certs red-flag the certificates as not valid.

Here's an XP remedy of sorts...

Double-click the clock in the system tray.
Click the "Internet Time" tab.
Check the "Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server"
Click the Server drop-down box and select "time.windows.com"
Click "Update Now"
Click Apply then Ok.

Go back to a site requiring security certificates.

When your clock messes up, go back here and click the update now button again.

Thanks for the suggestion. The clock was already set to synch with time.windows.com, and, while it failed when I told it to "update now", it indicated it had already synch'd a minute earlier.

BTW, the clock has stayed accurate for over a month, since updating the mobo BIOS and replacing the mobo battery.

Do you have any other suggestions?
