Good Evening all,

hopefully someone can help me here..

i brought an Samsung EVO 840 PRO SSD... i installed Windows 7 and reset up everyone on the SSD, after installing Samsung Mangerment program that came with SSD..

it says to diable SATA / RAID and AHCI is not enable..

so after looking around how to change SATA to AHCI i found an rego trick, i tried what they say to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci and change START valve to 0

reboot then change bios to AHCI , i did that and i still get a message "reboot and select proper boot device" is there another way, or do i need to re install windows 7 on AHCI enabled? i have a 1tb Sata drive would i need to format this drive to also work in AHCI? ..

would AHCI make a differences? for online gaming?

thanks

Solution
If you saved your previous files on the hdd just disconnect it until you've successfully installed the OS onto your SSD.
Enter bios and double check that AHCI is enabled.
Hook up your new SSD as first boot device and re-install the OS.
For gaming a SSD in AHCI is fast for loading.
I have games I play regularly on my SSD and the rest directed to my hdd.
