^ wont make much of a diffrance unless u use AA and by that time u will run into FPS issues it isnt even worth it lol

ALSO BEST SINGLE DUAL CHIP CARD it is xfire on 1 PCB so haveing 2 of them is quadfire lol

Superb advise it solves my problem regarding 3xx series and please give me reply for my below question.

I heard The R9 295X2 is the same as using R9 290X 8gb . The memory still acts the same, it is 8GB total but it is split between both GPUs and each GPU has 4GB to use so it is still as if you only have 4GB of total VRAM (even if a game says 8GB it is actually 4GB). So 295x2 with 4gb each gpu is better or 290x 8gb in single gpu for 4k?

well it isnt about the Vram here ATM now for now and i dont know how much this will last but 4GB of vram is doing OK in @ 4K just make sure you're not using AA as that will TANK the FPS

basically the R9 295x2 is a Crossfire R9 290X 4GB Vram

so yah 4GB X 2 = 8GB each GPU has 4GB Vram usage only and it is mirror'ed between the two

Your wish has came true, as you can see, 8GB is pretty unnecessary, only a tiny little more fps.

i am trying to figure out the same thing. i came across this article
http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/...

yes, (2) 290x 8gb cards are technically more powerful, but only by a few frames in each game, while at the same time taking more power to run and being louder and most likely hotter. not to mention you will need (4) 8 pin connectors, which mean my recently purchased hx850i would already need to be replaced.

now that the 295x2 can be had for under $700 it seems like the best solution.

the only thing i am confused about is the actual available memory. i would think that (2) 290x 8gb would perform better at 4k since you would have a total of 8gb of available vram. where as the 295x2 only has 4gb of available vram since the total 8gb is split/shared across both gpu's on the card. (is that correct, or does the 295x2 actually have 8gb of total available memory?) so if i did (2) 295x2's. would that mean i would still really only have 4gb of available memory, since in theory it would be like (4) 290x 4gb cards?

in the tests the extra 4gb really doesnt make the difference i would expect it to @ 4K. or i am mistaken and the 295x2 uses all 8gb, which would also make sense since the scores are so close.

side question, have any of you figured out how to get 4k @ 60hz from a dp port to a hdmi 2.0 port, this question is the biggest thing holding me back from buying a 295x2?

8GB is not that necessary unless you mod the game and very few games would use even close to that, but like you said, you would only gain like a max of 3 fps over 4GB of VRAM. The 295x2 does only have 4GB of VRAM since it is made up with the 290x. As of right now, nothing will work HDMI 2.0 to DP 1.2, if there was one, I wouldn't have spent $2,500 just to get that little port. Perhaps in the future or maybe never, who knows. But you could always wait for the 390x when it is out, I'm sure it will have HDMI 2.0 if you don't want to have DP as the only option.
