OK I just realize I should replace my stock CPU fan and I want to get something good and the cooler master 212 evo has a ton of good reviews and its $35 but I realized its like 2 years old so is it worth it to get it or is there something newer and better for the same price range?

Simple specs just in case:
I have a antec nine hundred case with a saphhire r9 280x tri-x (I think its factory oc) with a gigabyte fx990 ud3 mobo and a corsair cx750m power supply

The evo 212 will be fine if you do not plan to overclock, as the 8350 runs pretty hot.

I think some people may disagree with the EVO not being good for overclocking. This cooler is just fine for overclocking as long as you're not trying to do something crazy with your voltage.

I'm not really sure of any alternatives at that price range.

Yea of course you can overlock, but the 8350 runs really hot even on idle so no its not good to oc with normal air coolers,

And at that price range there may be some that is just a little but the evo 212 is one of the best rated and at that price range is hard to find a better, so i would say you will be happy with it.

Absolutely. Next step in performance/price would be Noctua NH-D14/Phanteks PH-TC14PE. They are huge though :D

Both of those are really good, if you can fit them but at that price range depending from where you gonna buy you could also get a corsair h80i as that would really keep the cpu cool and you could even overclock it a fair bit as that is one of the best 120mm aio coolers, its a closed loop one and its really easy to install too, but it all depends on what you want.

But both those coolers you listed are really good ones too, as noctura makes really good coolers and fans.

You can always get the cooler and check what your idle temps are and then check what your load temps are, if your load temps are ok then you can oc if you want.

Otherwise you could always save more money and get a better cooler.

The scythe kotetsu, cryorig h5 and others are a bit more expensive and a bit better than the 212 evo. Many have suggested going with a bigger air cooler for fx 8xxx and 9xxx since they're higher thermal design cpu's to begin with. If your case will fit it, which I think it will (barely) you might want to take a look at this one.

Cheaper than noctua and tends to perform on par or better than the nh d14. You'll likely have to remove any side cooling fans from the case door though since it'll be a tight squeeze (it's 170mm tall).
