Is the Palit 970 Jetstream Quiet?

Hello,
I am building a quiet PC, but like I said I am looking for the most quiet components out there, and the most noise created is going to be the Graphics Card. The asus 970 strix had the same noise output as the palit 970 jetstream did in the Guru3D Tests, and on other reviews the palit was actually quiter but only by about 0.2 DBA. Is it worth it paying extra for Asus? Since the palit is 257.99 an the asus is £296.39.

Yeah I use the EVGA G2 series which are based off that platform, they are very well constructed PSUs and very energy efficient. You can't go wrong there.

In my experience the loudest components are Power supply buzzing>Stock Intel heatsink fan>Mechanical hard drive seeking>Graphics card. Just some things to consider that might ruin your silent build. I had extremely loud psu buzzing on a corsair TX650m as well as other problems with a cx500m. I do not recommend corsair psus. For my latest build I picked up a xfx xtr 750w and it is much better. I also have the gigabyte G1 gaming 970 and I would totally recommend it for you if there was a way to turn off the fans on idle (I haven't found a way yet)

The HX750i looks to be a much higher quality unit. I've only had experience with corsairs low end units as I said. Their higher end psus might be worth it.

If you get a buzzing power supply, either you're running on an overpowered electrical circuit, or you're just plain doing something wrong. Modern power supplies don't buzz (unless you get a cheap one with a junk fan), and the more efficient they are, the less likely they are to emit any sort of buzzing noise.

Depends on which models, and you can't say they "might be worth it". Either you've worked with these units or read good reviews about them (not from stores), or you haven't. Jonnyguru gave the HXi series rather high remarks but said they weren't as good as the Flextronics manufactured AXi series: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=392

And the AXi series: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=394
