Odd Ram problem

Hi there. This is a strange one. I have 2 sticks of g.skill ram which have been working fine for 2 years, today I just received another 2 sticks of identical ram but for some reason the 2 new sticks won't work. I've tried all the sticks individually and it's definitely the new ram that isn't working and I can't imagine both sticks being broken. I really don't know why! Can anyone help!

Thanks in advance.

The ram is F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM (2 dual channel sticks of 2gb) and I was trying to add another pair to my system. Also my motherboard is a ga-78lmt-usb3 if that is any help. Cheers again. Mark

Are you sure the older ones are identical to the new ones?
Anyway, the mobo supports a maximum of 1300 MHz (OC) RAM while the new ones are 1600 MHz. That's where I think the problem lies, though still it should work at 1066 MHz at least. Can you get to the BIOS or not?
Also are you hearing any beeps?, if so, can you describe the beeps?

It won't boot at all with the new sticks. I've tried lowering the ram speed with one of the old sticks and then trying one of the new ones and still no luck. I've also tried resetting the bios aswell.

I can assure you the ram is the same, it looks exactly the same and the codes on the ram are the same.

As for any beeps - I dont have a speaker on my case.

Tis a mystery to me!

Thanks for the advice all the same.

Also I forgot to mention that I've had the old sticks running at 1866 stable. Hmmm.

That's the part that seems odd. The mobo can support up to 1333 MHz (OC) memory. How are you running the older memory at 1866? Not to mention, the RAMs themselves are 1600 MHz, which itself is an overkill for that mobo.
If possible just do one thing. Download this free hardware monitoring tool called Speccy from here
http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy/download/e2178c61e4d1d6d5b876f2a3cf32204d/
Install it and post a screen shot of the memory section and the mobo section.
Also can you describe how you OCed the older memories? Maybe that's where the key to the problem lies.

Well, to be honest I messed up, I thought I'd reset the bios but I hadn't actually done so (I have now) and wasn't paying attention to anything but the ram. All is good now at 1600mhz. I can only assume it was an overclocking issue with the cpu and that the newer ram isn't quite as stable, maybe something to do with the cpunb? (I'm a bit rusty with overclocking!) I can't remember the exact settings with the ram but I know I set the cas latency to 9 and upped the voltage slightly.

In bios it actually allows upto 2133mhz. I've got an fx 6300 oc'd to 4.1ghz at the moment, isnt 1600mhz a good match?

Anyway thanks for the help and sorry for the brain freeze!

@tradesman1

As stated I have an fx6300 and both pairs of ram have F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM written on them.

@gskill support

That was my plan but then I realised I hadn't reset the bios anyway. Still odd tho.

As a side note, I've read that in gaming you don't need more than 4gb of ram but after upgrading to 8gb the fps doesn't drop anywhere near as much before during heavy/intense scenes.

And on another side note, anything less that 1600x1200 seems to cause throttling with the cpu clocked at 4.1ghz (with an r9 280x), this surprised me actually, but then again the graphics card is overclocked. Just food for thought really. I do tend to digress(sp?) lol.
