I was playing Alien: Isolation and it randomly got really slow, so I tried to close out, but the game was too slow, so I force shut down. When I reboot the whole computer was slow. It started performing very poorly on easy tasks such as opening the start menu, so I did some investigating and found this:

Using 61 mb of RAM but says 89%? (I have 8gb)
I have had my computer for around 6 months and haven't had any problems with this before. The last time I installed anything was about a week before, and was the Alien game, so I don't think it could be a virus. But I ran a Norton anti-virus check just in case, but it didn't find anything.

Specs:

Amd Fx 8350
8gb RAM
PowerColor R9 280
AsusM5A99FX
1gbHdd
Windows 8.1

Not sure if this is a common question, but I couldn't find any answers that worked on other posts/websites. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps thats not the thing taking up most of your RAM, it could be a system process or antivirus. I've had Adaware go haywire and use up 80% of the RAM as a system process, so check the other tabs.

And last point malware can do this type of thing to your computer so maybe run a scan if all else fails.

I did more research on this sort of problem, and while I couldn't find the source of the problem, I found a solution. I disabled everything on the startup tab of task manager, booted in safe mode, then rebooted normally. Now the computer's working fine. Thanks for the answer though.
