PSU: My PCI-E cord is missing a pin?

So, I have a Corsair CS550M semi-modular power supply. I've been using it in my system for a while now, albeit without a GPU (I haven't been able to buy one yet). Since I'm now in the market for a 970 (even in light of their memory issue past 3.5 gb), I decided to check out my pci-e cord to make sure it would work out. And I noticed that the 8 pin side of it is missing a pin in it. I believe this is the side that goes into the PSU, as the other side has two 6+2 connectors. Those 6+2's have all of their pins.

Here is the missing pin side:

My apologies for the iPad camera.

Here you can see no wire is being fed into that slot:

And here (with the help of MS Paint), I try to show you that two wires are here being fed into the same slot! That's where the missing wire went.

Surely this can't be normal. Could this be dangerous to plug into a graphics card? Or would it actually work like normal? Does anyone have any idea what is happening here??

From the specs of the website listed it looks as though the middle wire on the bottom is optional on a 6 pin power connector. Since all of your wires are black, it is really difficult to tell if everything is correct. A wire missing won't hurt anything, but a wire in the wrong place could. If it doesn't short out when you plug it into your PSU, it is probably safe to connect to your GPU.

I can't really tell which wire is switched from the picture, but so long as the 2 wires arr from the same row 'long-way', it shoudn't matter, 4 are +12V and the other 4 are GND. More generally I'd be concerned with something like that getting through QC at corsair, makes me wonder what other imperfections are hidden.

Okay don't laugh too hard at what I've done..

Hopefully this shows a bit better what is going on here. There are two wires both of which I have labeled as red going into that slot that I have labeled at red. Also, the bar on the top signifies which side the clamp is on.
