I have a 2550k.
I am trying to go as high as I can to support my 970, but stability is of course my goal. I am confused on a lot of things. So I will create a list of some hopefully easy questions I couldn't find the answer to.
That's all! Thanks... these questions have been driving me crazy!

If my system crashes, do I LOWER the clock, or raise the vcore? What exactly should I do first?
Should I be using offsets or manual control for the vcore vaultage?
This is all to support my GTX 970 and not bottleneck it as much as possible. What would be a good oc? I don't care too much about longevity as long as it lasts me one more good year.
With an H100 (full speed) my CPU reaches at max 87c. That's with an 100% load for a few minutes though. Is this fine?
Right now my i5 2550k is at a max turbo of 4.4ghz and the vcore is +0.025. The max VID seemed like 1.3911 according to real temp. Is this more than enough for a 970 and 1440p?
