The reason for making this thread is because I cant find anything on this topic for 2015. How do the old i7 compare to the new amd cpus? In all the old threads the intel i7 were expensive but now ive seen them go anywhere from $20-$45. Would it be worth it to build a system with this cpu?

Motherboard that i got for free but if i had to buy it it would cost me $100
EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1

Ram that cost me $45
CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB)

the old i7 will still get the job done especially if you go for a 950
comparisom wise the i7 is in the ballpark of the 8320 although the 8320 on higher clocks will beat em...
but as you have most of the parts anyway i would say go for the 950 its worth 45 bux of any 1s money.

the xeon will depnd on which model it is. genrally they were very good cpu's but often require eec memory i think that motherboard only supports non eec memory so the xeon is likely not the cpu for your build.
