I got a new AMD FX-8350 for the holidays as well as a Rosewill Capstone 750W PSU, and about a month prior to that I got a new Nvidia GTX 760. Since installing the new CPU and PSU I've noticed that once or twice a week my computer will freeze while an online video is playing. I've lost some work because of it and I'd rather not have to force restart my computer every time and risk losing unsaved data. It happens on both Chrome and Firefox, and so far I've found the issue occur on Youtube, Twitch, and The Escapist's Zero Punctuation videos (if that helps to identify the issue, not sure exactly how their video player works). It will happen at different times during the video. I've done a few hours of research and found someone who said disabling HTML5 solved a similar problem, so I downloaded a chrome extension to disable it but earlier today it froze up again. I thought it might be a driver issue so I went through and found them all up-to-date. This only started happening when I installed my new CPU and PSU, which I wouldn't think would impact watching online videos. I mentioned my GPU addition which would seem more likely, except for the timing of the problem. Could this be the result of faulty hardware? I had a few BSOD's, including one APC index mismatch, the first two weeks but after doing a chkdsk /r I haven't had any problems (it's been about 2 weeks since then). I've scanned my computer using malwarebytes, BitDefender, and Windows Defender, and I have the latest Windows 8.1 updates.
I have to force-restart the computer when this happens. A few times I've waited for it to come back it never does. Would there be a log or dump file to look at? I've tried searching the event log but wasn't sure where exactly to look. Here are my computer specs:
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873 (I'm not sure what information is useful so I figure I'd just link it)
GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 760
PSU: Rosewill Capstone 750W
CPU: AMD FX-8350 8-Core 4.34GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengence 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
Aftermarket Cooler: Arctic Freezer A30 120mm PWM Fan
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
I use CoreTemp to monitor my cpu temp and it never goes above 60 degrees Celsius. I do not get freezes doing anything else except while an online video is playing.
