Will Windows 10 be free yo 8.1 users?

That's what Microsoft claims.
My only concern is will the free upgrade be a crippled 'basic' version, requiring to you spend money to go to the next version up to do anything or if it's the full blown OS.
If the free upgrade is just like the beta of 10 I'm testing right now, It'll be great!

My guess it will be the real full blown OS. They want to move on and forget windows 7 and especially windows 8 asap.
They are not talking about Windows 10 with bing here.

They just want everyone to upgrade... I have a feeling it will continue to be a free upgrade even after the one year.

I don't see anywhere that windows 10 will be on a subscription model.

As I see it, you get windows 10 for free and for life!

Yeah, they did make their description a little confusing. It has been explained in other articles that Windows 10 will not be on a subscription model and that the 1 year thing is how long you are given the opportunity for the free upgrade.
