ASROCK C226 Motherboard / Intel i3-4370 Processor Not Compatible?

If you have the C226 WS, then you will likely be okay with your new CPU. The board supports i3 socket 1150 Haswell chips, and it should support your new processor as well. Intel releases new CPUs often, and the motherboard vendor may not update their documentation to identify every single CPU supported by that particular motherboard.

The motherboard BIOS may not properly identify your CPU until ASRock releases a new BIOS update, but it should still work fine. Send an email to ASRock tech support if it doesn't properly identify it right away.

Thanks for the reply. I have it in and am getting the Dr. Debug code 00, which means "Check CPU". I've checked all connectons, checked the processor seated correctly/no bent pins, and have tried all the different configurations I can think of, so I'm fairly certain it doesn't recognize the processor... or that the cpu or mb are defective.

I'm waiting on a response from ASROCK.

Just out of curiousity, is it possible to update the BIOS without another processor? I do not have one.

Thanks!

Well, I guess that slightly higher frequency multiplier isn't being identified correctly. I'm surprised it just didn't go with a lower frequency.

As far as updating the BIOS w/o a CPU, I'm not sure if it is possible. You might be able to do so through the IPMI/BMC controller, which is on that workstation board (C226 WS). I'm just not sure if the CPU error will allow anything to function, though, even if if those controllers aren't directly linked to the CPU. ASRock Rack will have to give you direction on whether you can do it that way.
