asus m5a97 r2.0 motherboard cant read the hdds

i just did an upgrade on my pc(new ram,cpu,psu,motherboard)and have my old hdds.when i start the pc after the first screen it says "The current Bios setting do not fully support the boot device"I upgraded my bios to the last version but nothing new.My hdds work in other computers and a friend of mine put an hdd with windows in it and booted just fine.I don't know what else to do.I checked my connections,i changed to all sata ports,i changed to legacy from motherboard and still the same message.can anyone help me?

new:
motherboard:asus m5a97 r2.0
ram:kingston hyperx fury 2x4gb
cpu:amd fx-8350
psu:seasonic 620w
old
gpu: pny gtx660
hdd:seagate 250gb,wd 640gb caviar blue

it can't detect the hdd so f8 doesn't work as well.when trying to install the windows it cant find a drive to install to.so i guess the sata ports are faulty

Did I understand it correctly:
1.Your HDDs works fine at another mobo?
2. Friend`s HDD with windows booted fine at your mobo?

yes.well i found the solution.DOA.maybe bad sata ports.my friends hdd booted at second try from my motherboard.maybe it was just lucky :p.thanks for your help and time though.appreciate it :)
