SSD Related to fps?

After updating to win. 8.1 on my ssd i noticed a significant fps drop(in csgo) down to about 40-60 fps. After installing 8.1 on a different HDD my fps went back up to normal (in the 200's) where it was on my SSD before installing 8.1. i have all drivers up to date on both drives. Could this mean time to get a new ssd, or is there a fix. If its time for a new one, any suggested brands and models? i have an older Samsung and have heard they have short life spans.

It sounds like you have a bad install - have you tried reinstalling windows on the SSD? A dying SSD wouldn't hurt framerates like that, and as for 'short' life spans, that still means at least five years under heavy home use.

If it's a samsung, use the software they provide to test the SSD. An SSD shouldn't cause issues like this so you may want to either buy a new one or try a fresh install to see if that solves the problem.
