is it worth paying extra for the gold psu instead of the bronze?
recomended wattage is 850w but minimum is 750w
the graphics card is the XFX DD r9 290
and im thinking of the xfx 850w
The cx600 should have been able to power it easily ,are you sure the issue isn't elsewhere?
im not 100% sure if its the power supply thats making my system restart every 10 seconds, but i'll have a motherboard speaker soon to check
(im using these http://i.imgur.com/7EIzayY.png )

Is this a new build??
Are the restarts occuring even on the desktop?
If so its very unlikely to be a power issue unless the PSU is actually faulty as the card only pulls 30-40w at the lower 2d clocks.
Try removing the card entirely & running onboard graphics.
If the problem disappears reseat it and try again .
A speaker won't help with restarting issues if windows is running ,only with non boots on bios initialisation.
The CX 600 has enough grunt easily to power that setup & irregardles of the rants on toms about the CX series it in no way can be considered a 'poor' PSU imo - there are far worse PSU's doing the round and admittedly far better ones but it should do the job fine.

Yes it is a new build, I didn't breadboard my pc but the problem has occurred since I had the external build, so do you think the problem is the motherboard?
