Rapid beeping after installing CPU

I'm trying to upgrade from a Core i3-530 to a Core i7-870 and get a rapid beeping sound on startup. It's almost the same beep as when my RAM is unseated, but about twice as fast. Re-installing the old CPU, everything works fine.

I've got a P55-UD3 mobo, 600w power supply, 4 Gb of RAM and a GTX 650 video card installed.

Any ideas what could be causing the issue?

It looks like the revision 2 board with the F8 bios supports that cpu. You covered on both these requirements?

Try this- pull the cmos battery. Unplug the computer. If there is a cmos reset button press it. There may instead be a cmos jumper you have to bridge. Still unplugged press the on button to discharge your capacitors. After doing this plug it back in and try starting it again. The revision number will be silk screened on the motherboard itself.

OK, I pulled the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes, replaced it and bridged the pins. I restarted with all peripherals detached and only 1 stick of RAM and get the same beeps. Again, after reinstalling the old processor, everything runs fine.

Kind of surprised that's not already there. My PSU is an Xtreme Gear PSAZ-CP600 (600 watt), My only optical drive's an ATAPI iHAS124 DVD writer and I honestly have no idea about the case (should that make a difference?)
