Hello folks, and thanks for taking time to look at my post. I'm putting together a system for ultra settings with Everquest Next. Any advice would be highly thanked.

CPU: Intel 5930k

MB: Asrock Fatal1ty X99X Killer

PS: EVGA 220-PS-1000-V1 1000W

GPU:GTX 980 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Classified ACX 2.0

RAM:G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666 (PC4-21300)
OS:Windows 8.1 64 bit pro

SSD:SAMSUNG 850 Pro Series MZ-7KE1T0BW 2.5" 1TB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

I'm waiting on my tax return to buy a couple more 980's and Asus Rog 1440p monitor. I noticed my SSD is not supported for Ultra M.2 and this SSD will be for all my only drive for " Games " I also am a big fan of BF4. I really respect any advice on my current idea of a new system.

Thanks a lot.

Solution
Allows gtx 980 sli, which is better than crossfire r9 290. And don't remember about power consumption. r9 290 cf consume an enourmous amount of energy.
But you are right, it isn't worth it, the op should go with 2 gtx 970s.

You didn't have a case in your build so this one doesn't have it either. I can't really pick one for you as your taste will vary. The power supply in this build is top notch, as is everything else. I made component changes that won't effect your game performance but drastically reduced the build's cost.

Thanks for your help Demostenest and okcnaline. Last system I built was for FPS gamming. And lasted 6 good years of massive frags. But its old now " dual evga 590's sli" 2500k oc to 4.2. It just don't hold up to any 64 player BF4. Was looking at newegg.com for all the parts for this build. I'm looking for a system that will hold its own for another 3-5 years. Thank you for any advice

why don't you try upgrading your gpus to 2 gtx 970s or 980s? You might find you don't need a new cpu. The i5 2500k is still a beast today and it's able to handle every single game out there.

why do you recommend an i5 4670k over the devil canyon? And why r9 290x instead of gtx 970? It's hotter, noisier and draws 2 times the power...

Thanks a lot thor220 for your advice. My case will be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133188&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-

I really thank you for adding your thoughts to reducing costs. My internet speed is 15gig and have 89 ping to the bf4 server I play on. I know EQ next is a while away but still looking very much forward to coming out. I live in Anchorage Alaska and yes its -15 below

The 290x runs hotter with the stock cooler, this is not stock. While the 290x does draw more power, it's nothing like 2x as you exaggerate. The 970 takes 145w while the 290x takes 190w.

On the cpu, there's really no benefit to the slightly more expensive devil's canyon variant. You can overclock the cpu I linked about to easily surpass those speeds. Not worth the extra $20
