Okie so i finally got my desktop working, then the next problem came up, where it wont format my hard drive. I am trying with a windows 8 disc. i get to the point where it says to choose the hard drive, but the hard drive wont let windows up format it. What could i try to do now?

Solution
Download Gparted, burn it to a disk or USB, run the program at boot up, delete all the existing partitons on the hard disk drive you are trying to install to, then reboot and install windows. If there are NO partitions on the HDD (Including hidden partitions, which Gparted will see) and windows will not install, then either the installation media is damaged or the drive is.

Its a custom install because express wont work for some reason. In the bios the drive is recognized. The uefi mode is also enabled in the bios. WHen i get to the point where i choose the hard drive to use, it does say unallocatted space, but i cant hit the next button at all.

well i got to see all the partitions on the drive, but still dosent work after i deleted the partions that needed to be. Do i have to make a new partition useing the gparted program? And what file type would i need to use for windows 8?

Unless you have partitions on the drive that are storing data you still need, you need to delete ALL partitions on the drive. Especially ones that say system or reserved. If you have to create a new partition it should be an NTFS partition. Windows should do that automatically though. If you have valid installation keys I recommend you create installation media from the following official link:
