Hello

I was deciding between the FX8350 and the i7 4790K.
Now I have discovered that I can afford the i7 5820K because the mb and ram prices are coming down. It still is pushing my budget, but it will be cheaper to own it than it was before.

I will do gaming, graphic design, 3D design, rendering, and video editing.

I can buy the FX8350( already bought), Asus M5A990FX Pro 2.0 mb(which I already bought), 16g 2133 DDR3 ram (I already bought) and extra hdd(I already have a 120g ssd for the build), a liquid cooler and possibly a GTX960 (will upgrade from my GTX 660).

Or

i7 4790k,(with a ok mb), 16g 2133 DDR3 ram( I already bought) with the 120g ssd ( that I bought already), and a air cooler, or maybe a low end liquid cooler like a H90.

Or

i7 5820, a low end mb, low priced 2100 or 2400 16g DDR4 ram, the 120g ssd(that I already bought), and a air cooler.

Before I was starting to slowly go for the i7 4790k when people were giving me suggestions on here but I wasn't completely convinced. But now that I have discoved I can buy a i7 5820K system if I get a low end mb and ram. I can return the FX 8350, the mb for it and the ram if I go i7 5820K.

Which we be the best buy?

Solution
Go for i7 4790K, if you not gonna overclock go for i7 4790.
This is probably the best for a combine system where you gonna game and do rendering and designs..

Dont think the i7 5820 is so much better for the money you have to pay.

So because I would have the low end mb and low end ram with the i7 5820K, than its better to have the i7 5820K?

Well, a low end mb and low end RAM, may cause problems in future for you. So, play it safe. If I had a choice to make, I would prefer i7 4790K as like others have said, it is better balanced rather than the best.

First of all, I'm curious as to why you even considered AMD in the first place at this budget, now I wondering why you are considering a X99 platform with such a medium tier video card like a GTX960. Maybe of I understood where gaming fits in on your priority list compared to 3d design, rendering, and editing. Either way, my votes goes to the 4790k + Z97 mobo.

I'm curious as to what is meant by "low end motherboard" because every X99 motherboard is going to be a good motherboard. It's not like choosing between a H81 chipset and a Z97 chipset.

Bottom line, if choosing X99 means you are going to have to get a $200ish video card, or you can get a $400ish video card with the 4790k, the choice is pretty obvious to me.

And on a side note, the GTX960 would be a terrible choice for what you are wanting. The 280x would perform better in every way for like $20-30 more.

I mean a cheap motherboard, not low end. I was given info about the X99 Arock extreme 3
The GTX 660 I already own. Whatever I build I will transfer that over, I am planning to buy a newer video card. The reason why I am going with Nvidia because I will be using 3D software that flavors cuda cores.

Reason why I bought the AMD stuff is because I read some good things about it, it was recommended and the cpu was on sale for low price.

Later I was thinking if it was a good choice when I started learning more about the AMD. I think it will be a good cpu, I am just concerned about the low speed single core action, I don't know how this is going to relate to actually real world work. Also I am hoping its fast than my q6600.

If I go with the i74790K or the i7 5820K, I can buy a new gpu in the next month or so. Also with the low price of some of the x99 boards and the cheaper ADA DDR4 ram, I can build the X99 for almost the same price as the i74790K.
I already have a psu, gpu, ssd, case, OS. I just need to buy cpu, mb and ram. If I stick with the i7 4790K, I already have 2133 16g DDR3 ram. If I take it back, it I can use that to buy the DDR4 ram. I am living in Japan right now, I am American , so if I buy from the states the shipping will push the cost of the items to almost the same price as buying it here. Except for the mb and ram of the X99 system, I would buy from the states and it is still cheaper than here with shipping. The i7 5820K cpu I can get for about the same price here as the states.
The whole i7 4790K, mb and ram I can get here for about the same price as the states.

So that's why I am wondering i7 4790K or i7 5820K. Gaming will be secondary.

How would the 5820k build be almost the same price as the 4790k build? Especially considering you already have ddr3 RAM for the 4790k build?

So yeah a 5820k would be a little better for your needs, but I doubt it's worth the extra money. That's almost $200.

I still can't recommend the GTX960. It's been very underwhelming. Either get a GTX970 or wait for the GTX960ti that will probably be what the 960 should have been.

Remember I said after paying shipping to where I am it would come out close. Also I haven't opened the ram yet so I can still return it.

Thanks for the prices.

The only reason I am considering the 5820k is because of the 2 extra cores.
