I got my new M5A78L ASUS yesterday but when i put everything together over 4 times to be sure i did it all right when starting up my computer it stays in sleep mode on monitor and shows nothing but my computer is on and VGA is plugged in. A guy said it was my motherboard needed bios update but when i checked my bios version through the sticker he showed me on the motherboard it said 1501 but the version of the FX 6300 at the moment which i use is 1401 so shouldnt my motherboard not need a update to work since its a higher version?

Specs? It could be that your CPU is incompatible with your motherboard (my friend had a run in with the same problem). Do all the components like fans/lights run and light up? If so then try removing ram and other components and see if whats plugged in still runs. There are alot of things that could be wrong, RAM/CPU/PSU/GPU. So i recommend testing the components that you can. It also looks like some people have had the same exact issue so it could be a faulty/defect mobo.
