My i5 4670k is jumping from 800Mhz to 1400Mhz or even 3799Mhz when idling?!

Hey. I just installed new cooler so I'm testing my CPU for temperatures. I noticed that when Idling CPU clock jumps from 800Mhz to 1400Mhz and sometimes even on 3799Mhz. I assume this isn't normal?

Solution
Well, for a split second the CPU needs to run a process, so it boosts the frequency to whatever it thinks it`s neccesary.

If you are "idle", it doesn`t mean there`s absolutely no processes running in the background.

If your PC would be completely idle with no running processes, you would not be able to monitor any temps ;)

if you haven't changed anything in bios than it is normal, it's a power saving feature and turbo, if you don't want it disable all the c states and intel eist in bios, that will make the cpu run at stock all the time except for times when it turbo kicks in

All I did is that I enabled C states in BIOS.

It just seems odd to me that TURBO kicks in while idling...or basically anything above 800Mhz

Yes I guess that makes sense :)

Thank you all for your answers :)

100% normal... The cpu never stays at one spot clock-speed wise, it should fluctuate when in idle. When you run a benchmark or any cpu demanding program and you look at the speeds then you will see it stays on the max speed allocated either by your overclock or turbo setting...
