Hello

I seem to be having a massive performance drop. It was working fine and at one point I don't really remember when, I just started laggin in every game I play. Now I can't play anything because the frames will drop below 20 no matter what settings and no matter what game...
specs:
960GM-VGS3 FX
AMD FX-8120
ATI HD 7870 GHz edition
4gb of ram @1333Mhz
ADATA 128 SSD in AHCI
550 chieftech PSU

it drops below 20 fps in Leauge of Legends with everything set to lowest possible settings, even sound disabled. My drivers are up to date, my bios os up to date. I tried OC 5%, it didn't do much, I tried oc 10% and it BSOD'd as soon as I got to the desktop. My CPU temperatures are max 52*C under heavy load, GPU is below 40.. Yes I have set my power plan to high performance.

I have no idea what's going on. Any thoughts?

Well, that's not a bad deal, but there are limitations. More cooling may help.
If an i5 busts your budget, like I suggested you'd probably be pleased with the performance of the i3 (and an i5 or i7 is still available as a future upgrade).
I'm not too familiar with European shopping sites (and many of them are blocked at work), but there are no doubt a lot of others who can assist you once you've posted your budget. In fact, what you may wish to do is post a new thread using the Sticky on how to ask for New Build advice. Be sure to specify that your budget is in Euros, and you should be able to get a lot of relevant assistance.

I was thinking that the motherboard would be the bottleneck here anyway, so I'm planning on getting a new one, however it worked fine before that is a bit weird?maybe if I downclock would that work?

Since your CPU is the older Bulldozer, if you're thinking of a new motherboard, you might find it makes the most sense (depending on your budget) to do a complete rebuild. Chances are, even an i3 system would perform notably better than what you are running now. For the least amount of money though, a FX-6300 might actually work out best if you like everything else about your system. Otherwise, downclock that one a little (5%-10%) and/or add the heatsinks to the VRMs, put a R7 240 or GT730 on it and pass it on to a non-gaming family member. Put your still-capable HD7870 in your new rig.

Well, depending on what I'd get for the fx 8120 processor, I have considered going for an i5(probably can't afford haswell), in that case what should I aim for? All my life I've prettymuch been living on lower end machines and I wanted something nice for a change, so I got the fx8120+960GM/U3S3 for 100€ which I thought was a good deal, it seems not..
