Should I try 1600mhz CL8 on XMP?

I have had some BSODs, but I'm not sure whether it was bad drivers, bad gigabyte app center or my CPU not liking the XMP profile. Anyway the BSODs have stopped but I really would like to use the RAM at its rated speed (1600MHz @ CL8) rather than 1333MHz, Is it worht the risk of potential BSODs ?

Check your RAM voltage.

If your motherboard can see the XMP profile it will probably set the timings correctly and work fine. But if the memory voltage is set wrong it won't be stable.

In fact, giving a touch extra voltage won't hurt. Just be reasonable. For example, if your RAM is rated at 1.50v, you can try 1.52-1.55 safely to see if it stabilizes.

Wow I totally forgot about this thread, sorry its been like 2 months, anyway, I have a Gigabyte Z97x Gaming 7, Intel i5 4690k and Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8gb stick CL8 @ 1.5v (I know two 4gb stick would be better but this is what I had available to me). I don't have the latest BIOS available, for my mobo f7k is the latest, i have f6 witch is second newest, the f7k BIOS.
