GTX 770 2GB SLI Vs R9 295x2

I have asked this question before but I would like a more in depth answer.

I currently have 2 GTX 770's 2GB in SLI. I only play games at 1080p and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I like the price of the 295x2's right now. What I would like to know is will it be a huge imporvment in FPS in games like farcry 4, GTA 5 and so on. If it will not be a huge improvement I will wait untill 3xx or 980 Ti.

Here is where I get very confused does the 295x2 have 4GB x2 or 8GB usable Vram?

it will have 4GB usable and no it would be a waste of $ to upgrade 770s in sli to 295 you would not see that much of an improvement to warrant the cost. ALso always try to stick to a single GPU sli and such cause only headaches.

the 295x has 8GB, but it you're only gaming at 1080p then it is extreme overkill.

Note that bigger VRAM allows you to game at higher resolutions.

295x is essentially 2 290x's built into the same PCB, same as Titan Z being two Titan's on the same PCB, so the 8GB VRAM is total, but effectively it only has 4GB

8GB is correct as the TOTAL amount of VRAM, since it has 4GB to each of the 290x cores on the GPU, but it only effectively has 4GB since VRAM does not stack in XFire.
