So yeah, will be building soon. After hours of researching and chatting with people here, I've decided to go with the 970A-UP3P for my FX-6300.

Although I won't be needing insane CPU power when I'll only be using my current R7 260X for the graphics card, I'd prefer to overclock as much as possible and upgrade to a new R9 300 series when they come out, so I need to know if the board I have been recommended will perform for me.

Thanks in advance.

It should be fine. 8+2 phasing, solid caps, and large heat sinks. You should be able to get the best OC with the FX-6300 with the board. I used to have the 990FXA-UD3 which looks to be the same board with the better chipset.

That puts you just £2 shy of the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-GA-990FXA-UD3-990FXA-UD3-SKT-AM3-Motherboard/dp/B00545BZOG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1422581107&sr=8-4&keywords=ASUS+M5A99FX+PRO+R2.0

Probably not enough to notice compared to the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P. At least not unless you wanted to add a 2nd gfx card.
