liquid cooling noob

so I just bought the 8350 from amd, for now I can't afford a new cooler so I stuck the hyper TX3 which idles at 36-40 degrees and get up to around 55 while playing unity, while this isn't too bad, the small fans are really loud now and tbh I could do a lot better, so I want to get a liquid cooler, however I need to be able to have the radiator outside the case, not much room in there, any recommendations for what to get??

thanks in advance

the case is a atx hummer and preferably yes although like I said the radiator needs to be external, can aio's be taken apart to put the pipes through the holes in the case, there are 2 at the back

thinking custom loop then as like I said I'd need a new case to fit anything more than a 120mm radiator internally, although I don't have a 5.25 bay free for a reservoir, are they just a fancy extra?

I don't really have a preference to be honest, although the way things are going I think I'd like a system I can change, say if I get a liquid coolable gpu for example, just some more pipe, I will have to do some research I guess

for a custom loop you will need a rad a pump tubing a res fittings fans a way to control speeds for the pump and fan and then also waterblocks for whatever you intend to cool some quick advice try to put the pump at the lowest point in the system and the res at the highest point its not a must but it will make bleeding the air out of the system much much easier

any suggestions on parts? piping I can sort, and can I use a pump like on the corsair rigs, where it sits on the cpu, again not a lot of space, especially at the bottom, this case has no space at all for cables so there is a little bit of clutter

Most if not all decent pumps are not mounted on the block, and if moddi g or cable management is required there are a few of us who can and will help design and problemsolve with you :)
Read the wc sticky, ghost the wc gallery for popular parts and draw up a potential list, we love helping those who help themselves and end of the day you are the o e building and maintai i g the loop so it massively helps you to know what you bought and more importantly WHY you chose it :)

I understand how to do cable management, I bought the case before I knew anything just because the outside looks cool, to start with it was fine, but as I learnt more it became as issue, there isn't room at the back to run cables and have the side panel on, there isn't gaps to put the cables back through once they are ran around, well there are 3 I think, but they are tiny, the 24 pin power cable didn't fit, so for now while I just want to cool the cpu, not anything else it would be handy to be able to use a block mounted pump, or are they really terrible? once I get into it more I'll get a proper gamer case and then start full loop design.

could you link me to that pump with a res please, and a block for an AMD cpu, and I'll have a look and see what happens, maybe get a total then see if I can get a case I like less than that, what radiator size would you recommend, I was leaning towards a 240mm but not sure if that will be excessive.

You are kinda stuck with some options. Serious modding to your current case and build your own custom loop. Get a new case and build a custom loop/buy an AIO you can mod (h440).

If this is an issue about noise, there are plenty alternative cpu heatsink and fan configurations that would work tbh. Not trying to dissuade you from building a loop really but water cooling isn't inherently "quieter" than air cooling at all.

I seem to recall that Swiftech do a blockmounted pump so try and check that out and ignore my cable management comment hehe, I have ocd abloout cables and tubing being visible :p
I wouldnt touch that pump you linked, theres no info on it so unless you can research it and determine that its a decent one, stick to known good ones like the mcp655 or D5, theres a reason theyre so popular hehe theyre good
as wss said you can get res tops for pumps that make it part of the cylinder
I'm not an allinone fan so wont comment on them but if you did go for one I dont see the need for a new case

ya I'm gonna have a fiddle with the cooler over the weekend, a friend said try it without the second fan mounted to it, see if the runs cooler, its not so much about noise in general, obviously while gaming the case fans are on faster and I have a headset on, it more say at night watching netflix, if the cpu touches 40 degrees the fans explode for a couple seconds, I know why but its still annoying when it is every 7-10 seconds

I want it to be neater, but it just can't be in the current case, ok I wasn't sure but have found a nicer pump anyway, and the reason for the new case would be I can't get an allinone in this case, the radiator either has to be tiny or outside the case, and I'm fairly sure if I tried modding the case all I' do would be break in beyond repair, I'm not good at that sort of thing, failed woodwork in school

Yeah may as be but you didnt have us helping you in woodshop :) if you have the faith in yourself we are here to help, both in design and in techniques :)
Wc is 95% research and education, mentally building a project in your head so often that when you actually get the parts, your brains geared for it and the practical side is almost irrelevant because to your brain, youve 'built' it a thousand times already

you have a point, I think I have figured out a way using these where I wouldn't need to mod the case, I think being the operative term here, all the links will be ebay as I live in the UK and we don't really have anything else, amazon only sell AIO's so I'm stuck with ebay and stuff from either China or the USA,

Radiator either : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251783167412?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261543397238?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Pump : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191223690263?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Tubing, not really hard for anyone I'd hope? :p : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201039086012?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Liquid : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XSPC-EC6-Non-Conductive-Coolant-UV-Blue-/190738566596?pt=UK_Computing_Water_Cooling&hash=item2c68e78dc4

If someone could link me to a block I would be very happy, then I'll go do math and work out if its cheaper to go with a better case and with a AIO or a bigger air cooler, opinions on big air coolers, Evo 212 for example and OC'ing?

Weird... I guess a fan controller could help you.

Ive got 1 but I left the CPU cooler, a TX3 in a push pull setup on the cpu port on the mobo and left that to it's own devices, worked fine on the old cpu but seems to panic a lot on the new one

they do, but there is an import tax, buying on ebay seems to get around that, I guess coz they don't use special deliver companies like UPS for their orders they don't pay a handling fee either
