Ever since finishing my pc build I have been having issues with gaming and the connection. Sometimes it runs fine for about 20-30 minutes, but then the game starts lagging then loses connection entirely. This is all with a LAN connection via 1 gigabit ethernet Cat6, directly connected to the router. The Router is a Netgear router provided by my ISP. I am not sure where to look for the model, and I believe it might be a combination of a modem and router as there is only box in my computer atm. The issue occurs with more than just one game, and the result is consistent. My motherboard is an ASUS Maximus Hero VII with Intel gigabit NIC. Also should mention that the wireless connection works fine for my laptop.

First look for updates to the chipset and network card, if you used the ones from the disk that came with the motherboard there are probably a few newer versions out there.

Also check for a router firmware upgrade, when you logon to the router setup page you should see that option.

Try a different cable and port on the router.

I would login to the router, but I don't know the user name or password. I have a new cable and I changed the port, so only time will tell at this point.
